| Composition | Trisulfone® in 1 g contains, as active substances, 40 mg of sulfamonomethoxin in the form of the sodium salt and 20 g of trimethoprim, and as an auxiliary substance, lactose monohydrate. |
| Indications | Trisulfon ® has a broad antibacterial spectrum of action against most Gram-positive and Gram-negative microorganisms, incl. E. Coli, Salmonella spp., Staphylococcus spp., Streptococcus spp., Shigella spp. And other microorganisms, as well as some simple such as Coccidia and Toxoplasma gondi. Sulfamonomethoxin, similar in structure to para-aminobenzoic acid, disrupts the synthesis of dihydrofolic acid in bacterial cells, preventing the inclusion of para-aminobenzoic acid in its molecule. Trimethoprim enhances the action of sulfamonomethoxin, disrupting the reduction of dihydrofolic acid to the tetrahydrofolic – active form of folic acid, responsible for protein metabolism and division of the microbial cell. Combined action disrupts the synthesis of folic acid in two consecutive stages, which leads to a breakdown in the synthesis of nucleotides and determines the synergistic bactericidal effect of the combination of sulfonamethoxin and trimethoprim.
Sulfamonomethoxin and trimethoprim are absorbed well and quickly from the gastrointestinal tract and penetrate into all organs and tissues of the body, where antibacterial concentrations pass for 24 hours. Isolated from the body mainly with urine and bile. |
| Dosage and method of administration | Trisulfon® is used by calves, goats, lambs, pigs orally or individually in a mixture with the feed in a daily dose of 10 g of the preparation per 40 kg of the body weight of the animal. During the treatment period, animals should receive only food containing Trisulfone®.
Poultry and rabbits are given medicinal product with drinking water in the following daily doses: Poultry – 200 g of Trisulfone® per 100 liters of water; Rabbits – 8 grams of Trisulfone® per 1 liter of water. Duration of treatment is 5 days. During the treatment period, poultry and rabbits should receive only water containing Trisulfone®. A solution or food with the drug during the treatment period is prepared daily. |

Trisulfon® in appearance is a white free flowing powder, odorless, soluble in water. The medicinal product is put up in hermetically sealed bags of laminated foil or in plastic containers of 1 kg. |
