Trichophytosis of cattle

Species Cattle.
Composition

Active substance:
One dose of the vaccine contains between 20 and 60 million viable micronidia of Trichophyton verrucosum.

Composition:
Live attenuated lyophilized strain of Trichophyton verrucosum (TF-130 L, VGNKI), cultured on solid nutrient medium.

Description:
Presented as a homogeneous, dehydrated, attenuated, compact mass, light gray to cream in color.

Pharmaceutical form:
Injectable suspension obtained by reconstituting the lyophilizate with the diluent.

Indications For the prevention and treatment of trichophytosis in cattle.
Immunity in vaccinated animals develops 30 days after revaccination and lasts for at least 7 years.
Dosage and method of administration

For administration, the lyophilizate is diluted with isotonic sodium chloride solution.
For this purpose, using a sterile syringe and following aseptic rules, add 5 ml of diluent to the vial with the lyophilizate and shake until a homogeneous suspension is obtained.
The resulting suspension is transferred with the syringe to a sterile vial, and diluent is added at a ratio of 5 ml per vaccine dose. The vaccine diluted in this way is ready for administration.

Example:
In a vial containing 20 doses of vaccine, add 5 ml of sterile diluent and shake until a homogeneous suspension is obtained.
The suspension is transferred with a syringe to a sterile vial (of appropriate volume), where 95 ml of sterile diluent is added.

The vaccine is administered intramuscularly in the lumbar region.
The injection site is shaved and disinfected. Sterile needles and syringes, separate for each animal, are used.

Dosage:
Preventive administration (two doses at an interval of 10–14 days):
– Calves from 14 days to 4 months: 5 ml
– Calves over 4 months and adult animals: 10 ml

Curative administration (two doses at an interval of 10–14 days):
– Calves from 14 days to 4 months: 10 ml
– Calves over 4 months and adult animals: 20 ml

Calves from 14 days of age, from farms favorable and unfavorable for trichophytosis, must be vaccinated. Immunized animals are monitored for 30 days.

A normal reaction consists of a crust at the injection site, up to 20 mm in diameter, which disappears on its own in 20–25 days.

The curative effect is observed after 20–30 days and is manifested by the desquamation of crusts and disappearance of skin lesions. To accelerate desquamation, emollients such as fish oil, petroleum jelly, etc., can be applied to the affected areas.

Contraindications Do not administer to animals with fever or signs of cachexia.
Do not administer to calves under 14 days of age and to pregnant cows in the last trimester.
The use of the vaccine is prohibited in farms unfavorable for acute infectious diseases until they are eradicated.
Waiting period Meat – 10 days. Carcasses obtained before the end of the withdrawal period are used according to the results of veterinary sanitary inspection.
Milk – 0 days.
