Synulox
| Species | Cattle (lactating cows). |
|---|---|
| Composition |
Each intramammary syringe of 3 g contains: - Active substances: Intramammary suspension, oily, pale cream/light brown color. |
| Indications |
For use in clinical cases of mastitis, including those associated with infections caused by the following important pathogens: - Staphylococci (including beta-lactamase producing strains) |
| Dosage and method of administration |
Intramammary use: The contents of one syringe should be infused into each affected quarter at the level of the teat sphincter canal, immediately after complete milking of the quarter, at 12-hour intervals for 3 consecutive milkings. During treatment, the clinical progress should be evaluated by the veterinarian. In cases of infections caused by Staphylococcus aureus, a longer duration of antimicrobial therapy may be necessary. Thus, the total duration of treatment can be determined at the veterinarian's discretion but must be long enough to ensure complete resolution of the intramammary infection. Special precautions for safe use in target species: Disinfect the teat tip with an appropriate disinfectant before treatment. Recommendations for prudent use: The product should be used only for the treatment of clinical mastitis. The use of the product should be based on local (regional, farm-level) epidemiological information regarding the susceptibility of target bacteria, considering official and local antimicrobial policies. The use of the product should preferably be based on sensitivity testing. Avoid using the product in herds where beta-lactamase producing Staphylococcus strains have not been isolated. Veterinarians should strive to use narrow-spectrum antibiotics whenever possible. Improper use of the product may increase the prevalence of beta-lactam antibiotic-resistant bacteria and reduce the effectiveness of beta-lactam antibiotic treatment due to the potential for cross-resistance. |
| Contraindications | Not to be used in cases of hypersensitivity to the active substances or any of the excipients. Not to be used in animals known to have hypersensitivity to beta-lactam antibiotics. |
| Waiting period |
Meat and organs: 7 days. In cows milked twice a day, milk intended for human consumption can be given starting from the 7th milking after the last treatment. In the case of any other milking routine, milk can be intended for human consumption only after the same period from the last treatment (e.g., for cows milked 3 times a day, milk can be given for human consumption at the 11th milking). |
