Dosage and method of administration

Administer in drinking water.

Chickens (broilers): 20 mg doxycycline (equivalent to 40 mg of Hidrodox 500 mg/g) per 1 kg body weight/day, for 3-5 days.

mg veterinary product/L water = (40 mg veterinary product/kg body weight/day * body weight of birds to be treated (kg)) / (amount of water consumed per kg body weight (L)).

Pigs for fattening: 10 mg doxycycline (equivalent to 20 mg veterinary product) per kg body weight/day, for 5 days.

mg veterinary product/L water = (20 mg veterinary product/kg body weight/day * average body weight of animals to be treated (kg)) / (amount of water consumed per kg body weight).

When preparing medicated water, account for the body weight of the animals to be treated and the amount of water they consume daily. Water consumption can vary depending on factors such as age, health status, breed, and farming system. Based on the recommended dosage, the number of animals, and their body weight, the exact dose of Hidrodox 500 mg/g should be calculated according to the following formula:

mg Hidrodox per kg body weight/day × kg body weight/day of the animals to be treated / Average amount of drinking water = mg Hidrodox / L drinking water

To determine the correct dose and avoid underdosing, body weight must be measured as accurately as possible.

The amount of medicated water consumed depends on the clinical condition of the animals. The concentration may need to be adjusted to ensure the correct dosage in the drinking water.

Throughout the treatment, animals must have sufficient access to a water source to ensure adequate consumption. No other available water sources should be accessible to the treated animals. The medicated water must be consumed daily and prepared every 24 hours. It is recommended to prepare a concentrated solution of 100 g/L of water and then dilute it to the therapeutic concentration. Alternatively, the concentrated solution can be used in a graduated water dispenser.
