Species

Calves, pigs, chickens, turkeys.

Composition

Each 1.1 g of granules contains:
Active substance:
1000 mg tylosin (equivalent to 1100 mg tylosin tartrate).

Indications

Calves can be treated and protected against pneumonia caused by Mycoplasma spp., when the disease has been diagnosed in the herd.
Pigs benefit from treatment and prevention for enzootic pneumonia caused by Mycoplasma hyopneumoniae and Mycoplasma hyorhinis, as well as for porcine intestinal adenomatous disease (ileitis) associated with Lawsonia intracellularis, when the disease has been confirmed in the herd.
In chickens, treatment and prevention are recommended for chronic respiratory diseases (CRD) caused by Mycoplasma gallisepticum and Mycoplasma synoviae, as well as for necrotic enteritis caused by Clostridium perfringens, when the disease is present in the flock.
Turkeys can be treated and protected against chronic respiratory diseases (CRD) caused by Mycoplasma gallisepticum, in the case of a confirmed diagnosis in the flock.

Dosage and method of administration

For oral administration, the product should be dissolved in drinking water, and for calves, it can be added to milk or milk replacers. Each 1.1 grams of the veterinary medicinal product corresponds to 1 gram of tilmicosin.

Recommended doses:

Calves:
10-20 mg of tilmicosin/kg body weight (equivalent to 11-22 mg veterinary medicinal product/kg), administered twice daily, for a total daily dose of 20-40 mg tilmicosin/kg, for 7-14 days.

Turkeys:
75-100 mg of tilmicosin/kg body weight per day (82.5-110 mg veterinary medicinal product/kg) for 3-5 days.

Chickens:
For chronic respiratory disease treatment: 75-100 mg of tilmicosin/kg body weight per day (82.5-110 mg veterinary medicinal product/kg) for 3-5 days.
For necrotic enteritis treatment: 20 mg of tilmicosin/kg body weight per day (22 mg veterinary medicinal product/kg) for 3 days.

Pigs:
For enzootic pneumonia treatment: 20 mg of tilmicosin/kg body weight per day (22 mg veterinary medicinal product/kg) for 10 days.
For ileitis or porcine intestinal adenomatosis treatment: 5-10 mg of tilmicosin/kg body weight per day (5.5-11 mg veterinary medicinal product/kg) for 7 days.

When preparing medicated water, milk, or milk replacer, it is important to consider the body weight of the animals and the actual amount of water, milk, or replacer consumed daily. Consumption may vary based on factors such as age, health, breed, and management system.
To calculate the correct dosage:
(...mg tilmicosin/ kg body weight daily x Average body weight of animals to be treated)/ Average quantity of water or milk consumed per animal (1) = ... mg tilmicosin/ 1 liter of drinking water.

It is essential to ensure constant and sufficient access to the water supply for the treated animals to guarantee proper consumption. During treatment, no other source of drinking water should be available. If no visible response to treatment is observed within three days, the treatment should be reassessed.

After the treatment, the water supply system must be cleaned to prevent the ingestion of sub-therapeutic doses that could contribute to resistance development. Medicated water, milk, or milk replacer should be replaced every 24 hours.

For animals showing signs of severe infections, such as reduced water or feed intake, the treatment should be adjusted individually, for example, using an injectable product.

Contraindications

It should not be used in animals with known hypersensitivity to tylosin or other macrolides.
It should not be used in cases of known resistance to tylosin or cross-resistance to other macrolides (MLS resistance).
It should not be administered concurrently to animals vaccinated with vaccines sensitive to tylosin or within one week after vaccination.
It should not be administered to animals with liver disorders.
It should not be used in horses due to the risk of cecal inflammation.
