| Indications |
Treatment and prevention of flea infestations caused by Ctenocephalides spp. for one month following a single administration. This indication is due to the adulticidal, larvicidal, and ovicidal properties of the product. The product exhibits ovicidal action for 3 weeks after administration. By reducing the flea population, monthly treatment of pregnant and lactating animals helps prevent flea infestations in puppies up to seven weeks of age. The product can be used as part of a treatment strategy against flea allergy dermatitis and, due to its ovicidal and larvicidal action, may assist in controlling flea infestations in the surrounding environment in areas accessible to the animal. Prevention of heartworm disease (Dirofilaria immitis) through monthly administrations. Stronghold can be safely administered to animals infested with adult heartworms; however, in accordance with good veterinary practice, all animals aged 6 months or older living in endemic areas should be tested for the presence of adult heartworms before initiating treatment with Stronghold. Periodic testing of dogs for infestation is also recommended as part of a comprehensive prevention strategy. This product is not effective against adult forms of D. immitis. | Dosage and method of administration |
Stronghold is administered through a single application using a dosing unit, ensuring a minimum of 6 mg/kg of selamectin. In cases of concurrent parasitic infestations or infections requiring treatment with this product, a single administration of the recommended dose is sufficient.
