Composition and form of release
- Dosage form: Powder for oral use
- Composition: Virusan contains in 1 g as active ingredients: rimantadine (in the form of hydrochloride) – 0.5%, ascorbic acid – 12.5%; as excipients: garlic extract, glucose.
- Appearance: Fine homogeneous light brown powder with a garlic odor.
Doses and method of application
- Purpose: Virusan is intended for the prevention and treatment of viral diseases in bees (acute and chronic paralysis, wing deformity virus, sacbrood virus), as well as for stimulating growth, development, and increasing resistance to unfavorable environmental factors.
- Restrictions: The use of Virusan is prohibited less than 30 days before the start of the main honey harvest and in autumn before pumping commercial honey, if the drug enters the commercial honey.
- Application period: Spring (April-May) before the main honey harvest and late summer (August-September) after honey pumping.
- Preparation method: The drug is dissolved in warm sugar syrup (35°C – 40°C), prepared in a 1:1 ratio, at a rate of 20 g of Virusan per 5 liters of sugar syrup (or 40 g of Virusan per 10 liters of sugar syrup).
- Administration method: The prepared syrup is poured into the upper hive feeders at a rate of 1 liter of syrup per family and applied 2–3 times with an interval of 2–3 days.
Packaging
- The drug is produced packaged in 20 g and 40 g in hermetically sealed metallized film bags. Each consumer package is provided with usage instructions.
Storage conditions
- Store Virusan in the manufacturer’s sealed packaging, in a place protected from moisture and direct sunlight, separate from food and feed, at a temperature between 0°C and 25°C.
- Keep Virusan out of reach of children.
- Unused medication is disposed of in accordance with legal requirements.
- Virusan is dispensed without a veterinary prescription.
Expiration date
- The shelf life of the drug, subject to storage conditions in the manufacturer’s sealed packaging, is 2 years from the date of manufacture.
- The use of Virusan after the expiration date is prohibited.
