| Indications |
The veterinary medicinal product Piro-Stop is indicated for dogs for preventive and curative purposes in cases of the hemoparasitic disease – babesiosis. |
| Dosage and method of administration |
Piro-Stop is administered to animals following aseptic and antiseptic rules, in the neck region, subcutaneously or intramuscularly, at a dose of 0.5 ml per 10 kg of body weight, as a single administration. For preventive purposes, Piro-Stop is administered in cases of attack (or threat of attack) by ixodid ticks – carriers of blood parasitic diseases – as well as within one week after moving animals to regions unfavorable for these diseases, no more frequently than once every 4 weeks. The frequency of administration is determined by a veterinarian. Recommendations for proper administration: In case hyperthermia persists or piroplasms are detected in a peripheral blood smear examined 24–48 hours later, it is recommended to repeat the Piro-Stop injection at the same dose. To reduce pain during parenteral administration, the medicinal product may be mixed in a syringe with local anesthetics in a 1:1 ratio (e.g., with 0.5% novocaine). Due to a possible painful reaction, it is not recommended to administer Piro-Stop in the same site in volumes exceeding 10 ml for large breed animals or 2.0 ml for small breed animals. |
