| Dosage and method of administration |
In the treatment and prevention of ectoparasite infestations, for combating ixodid ticks, Dana Spot-on is applied once to intact and dry skin, in areas inaccessible for licking (such as the neck, at the base of the skull, between the shoulders), using the corresponding volume pipette. Repeated treatments during the peak activity period of parasites should be done as needed, but no more than once a month. In the case of frequent baths with soap or shampoo (more than twice a month), it should not be applied more frequently than once every two weeks. For preventive purposes against new flea invasions, bedding should be changed or treated with insecticide preparations according to instructions. To combat ixodid ticks on the animal’s body, 1-2 drops of Dana Spot-on are applied directly onto the tick and the attachment site on the skin. If the tick does not fall off within 20-30 minutes, it should be carefully removed and destroyed. In the treatment of otodectosis (ear mange) in dogs, cats, and fur animals, the ear canal and the ear flap should first be cleaned of crusts and secretions. Then, 3-5 drops of the preparation are instilled into both ears, and the base of the ear is massaged. Treatments are done 2-3 times with a 5-7 day interval, and if necessary, treatment is repeated. For sarcoptic mange, notoedrosis, or demodicosis, the preparation is applied to the affected area, cleaned of crusts, using a swab, from the periphery towards the center, covering 1 cm of surrounding tissue. In severe cases, combination therapy with symptomatic preparations is recommended. Treatments are performed 3-5 times with a 7-10 day interval until the animal is healed, confirmed by two negative acarological results. |
