Species

Dogs, cats, ferrets, chinchillas, guinea pigs, rats, hamsters.

Composition

Composition: 1 ml of solution contains:
- Active substance: fipronil – 3 mg.

Indications Bars insecto-acaricidal spray is indicated for dogs, cats, ferrets, chinchillas, guinea pigs, rats, and hamsters for the treatment of entomoses (mallophaga and hematophaga lice, fleas), sarcoptic mange (sarcoptosis, notoedrosis), cheyletiellosis, and ixodid ticks, as well as for preventive purposes.
Dosage and method of administration

Doses:
The dose of Bars insecto-acaricidal spray for dogs, cats, and ferrets, depending on the condition of the coat, ranges from 0.5 to 1.0 ml/kg of body weight, equivalent to 2–4 sprays from a 100 ml bottle and 1 spray (1.0 ml) from a 200 ml bottle.
Rodents affected by ectoparasites are treated with Bars insecto-acaricidal spray at the following rates: hamsters – 0.25 ml/animal, chinchillas, guinea pigs, and rats – 0.25 ml/100 g of body weight.
To prevent reinfestation, bedding and other care items are treated at a rate of 2 ml/m².

Method of administration:
The bottle is shaken well and, held vertically, sprayed onto the desired surface from a distance of 25–30 cm. One press of the nozzle on a 200 ml bottle delivers a dose of 1.0 ml, while on a 100 ml bottle it delivers 0.25 ml.
To eliminate insects and combat ixodid ticks, the entire surface of the animal’s body is treated, applying the product to the skin and lightly moistening the coat (for long-haired animals, the tuft is lifted by hand and the product is applied at its base). To prevent licking, a muzzle is applied to the animal. Protecting the animal’s eyes with a hand, the ear pavilions and chest are treated, gently massaging the product with fingertips around the eyes and nose, then continuing with the neck, body, limbs, abdomen, and tail.
After 20 minutes from application, the coat is combed, and the muzzle is removed from the animal.
To eliminate ixodid ticks from the animal’s body surface, the product is applied directly to the tick and its attachment site on the skin. If the tick does not detach within 20–30 minutes, it is carefully removed and destroyed.
For preventive purposes, treatments are performed no more frequently than once a month against insects and once every 14 days against ixodid ticks (during the parasitic season).

In cases of notoedrosis in cats and sarcoptic mange in dogs, the product is applied to the affected area, cleared of crusts, and 1 cm of surrounding tissue. Application is performed until the affected area is lightly moistened, 2–4 times at intervals of 7–10 days, until the animal recovers, confirmed by two negative results from a laboratory acarological examination. For animals with extensive affected areas, treatment is conducted in two stages with a 1-day interval, first on one part of the body, then on the other.
Until the coat is completely dry, licking and proximity to electric heaters or open flames should be avoided. Animals should not be washed with shampoo or soap for 3 days before and after treatment, nor allowed in water bodies for 48 hours post-application. One treatment provides protection against insects for 1 month and against ixodid ticks for at least 2 weeks.
