Cetire s hvostikom

The tablets contain megestrol acetate as the active substance – 5 mg/tablet.  
Adjuvants: mannitol, lecithin, xylitol, lactose, starch, Plasdon S-630, calcium stearate, aerosil, and flavoring additive.  

Cetîre s hvostikom tablets are indicated for contraceptive purposes and for regulating sexual arousal: in bitches and female cats – to delay and interrupt estrus, eliminate symptoms of false pregnancy and lactation; in male dogs and cats – to reduce libido and correct behavior.

Cetîre s hvostikom tablets are administered to animals individually, orally (internally) on the root of the tongue or with a small amount of treat, 1–2 hours before feeding, taking into account the species and sex of the animal.  

For female cats, to interrupt estrus at the onset of the first symptoms, but no later than the 3rd day of estrus, administer 1 tablet (5 mg megestrol acetate/animal) per day for 8 days. No more than two courses are recommended within a year. If determining the start of estrus is difficult, it is recommended to delay it rather than interrupt it.  

For female cats, to delay estrus, administer during the anestrus period (between estrus cycles) 1 tablet once every 2 weeks, for no longer than 18 months. Before starting a new course, a rest period of 2 months is recommended. The course can be repeated once reproductive function returns to normal.  

For bitches, to prevent estrus, administer 7–15 days before the onset of estrus at a dose of 1 tablet/10 kg of body weight (0.5 mg megestrol acetate/kg) daily. The duration of the course depends on the desired delay of estrus but should not exceed 32 days. Estrus in bitches may begin a few days after discontinuation of the preparation. Long-term administration (one month) may result in estrus starting after 4–6 months, sometimes 2–9 months.  

The daily doses of Cetîre s hvostikom tablets for preventing estrus in bitches, depending on the animal’s body weight, are presented in Table 1.  

For bitches, to interrupt estrus, the preparation is administered at the onset of the first symptoms, but no later than 3 days from their start, at a dose of 2 mg megestrol acetate/1 kg of body weight. The daily doses of the preparation for interrupting estrus in bitches, depending on the animal’s body weight, are presented in Table 2. For the first 3 days, the full daily dose is administered, followed by half the daily dose for 7 days. No more than two courses of administration are recommended within a year. Following administration, estrus begins after 4–6 months, sometimes 2–9 months .  

High sensitivity of the animal to the components of the preparation (including in the medical history), diseases of the urogenital tract, tumors, diabetes mellitus, hormonal disorders. Administration of the preparation is not recommended for immature animals, bitches, and cats starting from the 3rd day of estrus, during gestation, and lactation.

The preparation is presented packaged with 10 tablets per blister made of polymer film and aluminum foil, with secondary packaging in a cardboard box containing 1 or 2 blisters and instructions.
