Composition

Marfloxin mg tablets for dogs
Active ingredient: Marbofloxacin

Each tablet contains 20 mg of marbofloxacin.

Yellow-brown, round, biconvex, marbled tablets with beveled edges, possibly with darker or lighter spots, marked on one side. The tablets can be divided into equal halves.

Indications

In dogs, for the treatment of infections caused by bacterial strains sensitive to marbofloxacin:

Skin and soft tissue infections (pyoderma, impetigo, folliculitis, furunculosis, cellulitis).

Urinary tract infections (UTIs) with or without prostatitis or epididymitis.

Respiratory tract infections.

Dosage and method of administration

Oral use. The recommended dose is 2 mg marbofloxacin/kg body weight per day (1 tablet per 10 kg body weight per day) as a single dose.

If needed, combining whole and half tablets of different strengths (5 mg, 20 mg, or 80 mg) allows for accurate dosing. To avoid underdosing, body weight should be determined as accurately as possible.

Duration of treatment:

-For skin and soft tissue infections, the treatment duration is at least 5 days and may extend up to 40 days depending on the disease's progression.

-For urinary tract infections, the treatment duration is at least 10 days and may extend up to 28 days depending on the disease's progression.

-For respiratory tract infections, the treatment duration is at least 7 days and may extend up to 21 days depending on the disease's progression.

Contraindications

Not to be used in dogs younger than 12 months or under 18 months for very large breeds, such as Great Danes, Briards, Bernese Mountain Dogs, Bouviers, and Mastiffs, which have longer growth periods.
Not to be used in cats; for cats, 5 mg tablets are available.
Not to be used in cases of known hypersensitivity to marbofloxacin, other (fluoro)quinolones, or any of the excipients.
Not to be used in cases of quinolone resistance due to almost complete cross-resistance with other fluoroquinolones.

Waiting period It is not the case.
Release form PVC-AL-OPA/AL blister packs containing 10 tablets.
Boxes with a leaflet containing either 10 tablets or 100 tablets.
Storage conditions

Keep out of sight and reach of children.
Store in the original packaging to protect from light.
This veterinary medicinal product does not require special temperature conditions for storage.
Do not use after the expiration date indicated on the box after "EXP."

Shelf life

The shelf life of halved tablets is 5 days.
