Intranasal/ocular, by water or by coarse spray.
The vaccine is administered intranasally/ocularly, by water or by coarse spray.
Chickens are vaccinated starting from one day of age.
All susceptible birds should be vaccinated properly and preferably at the same time to reduce circulation of the vaccine strain. The vaccine virus can spread to other susceptible species by direct contact, but does not have a significant
effect on turkeys.
Intranasal/ocular method
The vaccine is dissolved in clean water free of antiseptics and disinfectants. The amount of liquid required to administer the vaccine depends on the number of doses and the size of the drops (approximately 35 ml per 1000 doses of vaccine). One drop (~0.03 ml) is instilled into the nasal slit or applied to the conjunctiva using a standard eye dropper, making sure that the drop is completely absorbed.
It is possible to dissolve the vaccine in Oculo/Nazal solvent. Before use, 1 vial of the vaccine is dissolved in 1 vial of the corresponding volume of Oculo/Nazal solvent. Using a dosing pipette applicator, the prepared vaccine in a volume of ~0.03 ml (one drop) is instilled into the nasal slit or applied to the conjunctiva.
Water feeding method
The required number of vials are opened under water and the vaccine is dissolved in clean cold water with the addition of 2% skim milk. If the number of birds to be vaccinated exceeds the number of doses in a vial, a vial with a larger number of doses is used.
The number of liters of water for dissolving the vaccine is equivalent to the bird's age in days (e.g. 1000 doses of vaccine per 1-20 liters of water; the volume of water for dissolving 100 doses can reach 40 liters when vaccinating heavy breeds of chickens or in hot weather). Before vaccination, it is necessary to ensure that there are the required number of water tanks. Water tanks should not contain residues of detergents and disinfectants. Before vaccination, the birds are kept without water. It is recommended to vaccinate early in the morning, since at this time the birds' water consumption increases. Before and during immunization, it is necessary to ensure free access of birds to feed. Water supply is permitted after the birds have completely consumed the vaccine suspension (after approximately 1-2 hours).
Coarse spray method (spray method)
The required number of vials are opened under water and the vaccine is dissolved in clean water free of antiseptics and disinfectants with the addition of 2% skim milk. The volume of the prepared vaccine should be sufficient to ensure uniform vaccination of the birds. Depending on the age of the birds to be vaccinated and the equipment used, 250 to 500 ml of water is required per 1000 doses of vaccine.
The vaccine is evenly sprayed over the birds at a distance of 30-40 cm using generators (sprayers), while it is necessary to ensure crowded placement of the birds. Sprayers must be corrosion-resistant, contain no foreign particles, disinfectant residues and be used only for vaccination. To prevent the loss of droplet suspension of the vaccine during vaccination in poultry houses, it is necessary to turn off the ventilation system and reduce the lighting level.
