Suvaxyn PRRS

Species Swine.
Composition

Lyophilisate and solvent for suspension for injection for pigs.

Each dose (2 ml) contains:

Lyophilized:

Active substance: VPRRS* live, modified, strain 96V198: 102.2 – 105.2 CCID50***porcine respiratory and reproductive syndrome virus**infectious dose for 50% of cell cultures

Solvent: Sodium chloride solution 0.9%: qs 1 dose.

Lyophilized: off-white lyophilized tablet.

Solvent: clear, colorless solution.

Indications

For active immunization of clinically healthy pigs from 1 day of age in an environment contaminated with porcine respiratory and reproductive syndrome (PRRS) virus, to reduce viremia and nasal secretions caused by infection with European strains of PRRS virus (genotype l).

Installation of immunity: 21 days after vaccination.

Duration of immunity: 26 weeks after vaccination.

Pigs for fattening:

In addition, vaccination of 1-day-old seronegative piglets demonstrated a significant reduction in lung lesions compared to control infection administered 26 weeks after vaccination. Vaccination of 2-week-old seronegative piglets demonstrated a significant reduction in lung lesions and oral secretions compared to control infection administered 28 days and 16 weeks post-vaccination.

Sows and sows: In addition, pre-gestation vaccination of clinically healthy gilts and sows that have not received PRRS virus (eg either previously immunized against PRRS virus by vaccination or exposed to PRRS virus by infection in the field) or PRRS virus-naïve, demonstrated a reduction in PRRSV transplacental infection in the last third of gestation, as well as a reduction in the negative impact associated with reproductive performance (reduction in stillbirths, farrowing and weaning piglet viraemia, lung damage and viral load in the lungs of weaned piglets).

Dosage and method of administration

Intramuscular injection: 2 ml into the neck muscle.

Pigs for fattening: A single dose of 2 ml is administered to pigs from the age of 1 day.

Sows and sows: A single dose of 2 ml is given before introduction into the sow herd, approximately 4 weeks before breeding. A single booster dose is administered every 6 months.

Reconstitute the lyophilisate with the solvent provided. if the vials containing the solvent and the lyophilisate are stored separately, check before reconstitution of the lyophilisate that the lot number stated on the vial containing the solvent is identical to the lot number stated on the vial containing the lyophilisate.

Transfer approximately 5 ml of solvent to the vial containing the lyophilisate and ensure complete reconstitution. Transfer the reconstituted solution back into the solvent vial (containing the remaining solvent): 25 doses are reconstituted in 50 mL solvent, 50 doses are reconstituted in 100 mL solvent, and 125 doses are reconstituted in 250 mL solvent.

Mass vaccination can be used in herds where the prevalence of European PRRS virus has been established.

Use sterile needles and syringes.

It is recommended to use a multi-dose syringe. Use the vaccination devices according to the manufacturer's instructions.

Administration needles should be appropriate for the size of the pig.

Contraindications

Do not use in herds where European PRRS virus has not been detected by reliable diagnostic methods.

Do not use in boars producing semen, as PRRS virus can be spread through semen.

Do not use in gilts and pregnant sows that have not received PRRS viruses in the second half of gestation, as the vaccine strain may cross the placenta. Administration of the vaccine to gilts and pregnant sows that have not received PRRS viruses in the second half of gestation may have an impact on their reproductive performance.

Waiting period Zero days.
