| Indications |
Active immunisation of healthy chickens against the Massachusetts serotype of infectious bronchitis virus and against Newcastle disease virus. The duration and level of immunity that develops depend on the age of the chickens, their health and their maintenance. Hygiene conditions and compliance with the growing conditions may influence the development of immunity. Onset of immunity: within a maximum of 3 weeks after vaccination (determined on the basis of the intervals between vaccinations and challenge infections; this period may be shorter, but this has not been investigated). Duration of immunity: at least 6 weeks. |
| Dosage and method of administration |
The vaccine can be administered by (coarse) spray, by oculo-nasal instillation or via drinking water. The vaccine can be presented in lyophilized form, in a glass vial, or as lyophilized spheres in cups. In the case of the product presented in cups, do not use the product if the contents are brown and stuck to the container, as this indicates that the integrity of the container has been compromised. Each container should be used immediately and completely after opening. The vials should be opened under water and the contents of the cups should be poured into the water. In both cases, mix the water containing the vaccine well before use. After reconstitution, the suspension appears clear. Oculo-nasal administration Administration by spray The spray device must be uncorroded, free of sediment or traces of disinfectants (preferably used only for vaccination). The vaccine-medicated water should be distributed evenly to the correct number of birds, at a distance of 30 to 40 cm, preferably when the birds are kept together in dim light. For day-old chicks: use 0.25 litres of water per 1000 birds. For older birds: dissolve 1000 doses per litre of water (use a sprayer only if safe for the birds). For both day-old chicks and older birds, a large droplet spray (>100 microns) is recommended. Administration in drinking water The addition of 2 grams of skimmed milk powder per litre of water maintains the virus activity for a longer period. The water in which the vaccine has been dissolved should be consumed within a maximum of 2 hours. Depending on weather conditions, it may be necessary to restrict water before vaccination. It is essential to use an adequate number of drinkers to ensure an adequate drinking front. The drinkers must be clean, without traces of detergents or disinfectants. Dissolve 1000 doses in a number of liters of water equal to the age of the chicks in days, but not more than 40 liters. The vaccine should be administered early in the morning, which is either the main time of water consumption or the cooler period in summer days. When vaccinating large flocks, it is recommended to dissolve only part of the vaccine at first. Special care should be taken when administering the vaccine through the central water system or with a dispenser. When the number of birds is between two standard doses, the next higher dose should be chosen. RECOMMENDATIONS FOR CORRECT ADMINISTRATION |
