Freeze-dried vaccine against swine fever

Species Swine.
Composition

It presents as a homogeneous, dehydrated mass, in compressed form, slightly porous, ranging in color from light gray to pale yellow, of the lyophilized strain Erysipelothrix rhusiopathiae VR-2 in a gelatin-peptone-sucrose medium.

One dose of the lyophilized vaccine contains not less than 200 million live microbial cells. The vaccine is safe and non-reactogenic.

Indications For the prevention of porcine erysipelas.
Dosage and method of administration

To be administered, the lyophilized vaccine is diluted with sterile isotonic sodium chloride solution at a ratio of 1 ml per dose (the number of doses per vial is indicated on the label). The vial containing the diluted vaccine is shaken to obtain a homogeneous suspension. During the cold season, the diluent is warmed in a water bath to 36-37°C.

Healthy animals are vaccinated. The dose is 1 ml administered intramuscularly, at the base of the ear or the inner thigh (for piglets), according to the following schedule:

Piglets from 2 months old: two doses with an interval of 25-30 days, booster vaccination after 5 months (one dose).
Pigs older than 4 months: one dose, booster vaccination after 5 months.
Sows: one dose 15-20 days before mating (insemination).

Immunity develops within 5-8 days after vaccination and lasts for 6-6.5 months.

Contraindications Animals in the vaccination groups should not be treated with antibiotics for 7 days before and after immunization.
Waiting period The slaughter of pigs for human consumption is allowed no earlier than 7 days after the last administration of the preparation.

Storage conditions Store in a dark place, separate from food and feed products, at a temperature of 2°C + 10°C, in places inaccessible to children.
